Although much of this is listed in the band notice, here is a more complete list of what is needed for band:
1. Instrument (rent, borrow, purchase, etc...)
2. Instrument supplies:
- cleaning kit for flute, clarinet, sax, trumpet, trombone - about $15
- reeds (box of 2.5 strength reeds for clarinet and sax) - about $20
- bassists - strap, case, instrument cable, electronic tuner, practice amp
- drummer/percussionists - stick bag, pair 5A drumsticks, pair plastic bell mallets, pair timpani mallets, pair yarn mallets, practice pad for home practice if you don't have a snare drum - about $75-100
3. Standard of Excellence Book 1 for your instrument (no need to get the Enhanced version as all recordings are now available online) - about $10
4. Folding wire music stand for home practice - about $15
Getting an Instrument:
- rent from a reputable music store
- buy new or used from a reputable music store (not a big box store like Costco or Sears)
- borrow from a friend or relative (have it checked over for playability)
- buy used from Craigslist or Buy & Sell

The iPAS software that came with your book is an amazing resource that students will enjoy using as well as an assessment tool to give students feedback about their playing which will be forwarded to the teacher for evaluation purposes. We will be set up soon for forwarding the results to the teacher, however, everyone should be using the software now.
